Metro United Way
The United Way has a 24/7 call center where you can speak to a licensed clinician if you are having a mental health emergency. The call center will also give you the information to resources in your area. If you click on the small 211 link above, you will be directed to the Atlanta Metro United Way website where you can locate resources in your area. (These resources include, but are not limited to, housing, employment, clothing, food, utility bill assistance, items for babies, items for pets, etc.)
Record Expungement, Professional Licenses, Early Probation Termination, Legal Assistance, Immigration
The Georgia Justice Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping ex-offenders. They have a meeting the first Friday of every month at their Atlanta location to learn about record expungement, early probation termination, and how to read your background report. You must go onto their website to register for attendance. They also provide information on early probation termination, legal services, professional licensure and immigration.
My Next Move
Mynextmove.org is a website that gives information about different careers. On this site, you will find the interest profiler that is a short questionnaire to provide you with information on careers you may be interested in. You will also find information about each type of job such as the outlook for that field, median salary information, education and skills needed, and the type of person that may fit well in that field.
Coursera
Coursera is an educational website where you can take courses from leading universities and companies for free! You can learn almost any skill on this website for free. The certificates of completion may cost money, but auditing courses is free. There are paid trainings on this site as well.
Goodwill of North Georgia
On this website, you will find various training programs that Goodwill Career centers offer for free. If you sign up to take these trainings, you will earn certifications in various fields. Once you complete the training, Goodwill will place you in a job in that field.
Ben Massell Dental Clinic
The Ben Massell Dental Clinic, a program of Jewish Family & Career Services, provides the most advanced dental care available to its patients. They are the only resource for comprehensive, quality dental care available at no cost to Atlantans who cannot afford it. Volunteer dentists offer their time to help people who would not have access to care.
To receive care at this facility, you will need to call their client phone line on Monday mornings at 9 AM and leave a message. If you are one of the first 25 callers to leave a message, the staff will call you back that week to schedule your first appointment. You may receive services for a low fee of $3 or no cost at all.
